What I Will Do For You as Your Coach

1.         I will be a talking partner.  I will ask questions to deepen your thinking and focus you on what life choices you have made and where you want life to go.

2.         I will raise up and make visible, choice points, and make them better by that awareness.

3.         I will slow you down so you can be more thoughtful.

4.         I will hold your focus on your agenda – “This is what you’re doing, moving toward or away from your agenda”.

5.         I will give you advice, question you, and hold your feet to the fire.

6.         I will not disclose the details of our conversation without your permission.

7.         I will state honestly what I see.

8.         I will support you in your growth, without agenda, only daring you to reach your goals.

9.         In order for the future to be different from the past, you must change on the inside.  I will help you look at who you will have to become to achieve the results you want.

10.       I will “intrude” in the middle of a story to ask you a question in order to cut to the heart of the matter.

11.       I will make requests of you, for a certain course of action, or homework.  They are not ultimatums, and there are a number of possible responses, “Yes”, “No”, “Here Is my counteroffer”, or “I need some time to think about it, I’ll let you know Monday”.

12.       I will remind you of your gremlin, so it will begin to lose its power.

13.       I will work collaboratively with you, to support you in creating the life you want.

14.       I will challenge, incite, motivate, encourage, and sometimes demand that you be powerful.

What I Need From You – Your Role in This Relationship

1.         Prepare for each call.  Take a minute and ask yourself “what’s up for me right now?”

2.         At any time, say what you want.

3.         Be accountable – for your own life goals, your own agenda:  What worked?  What didn’t work? What happened?  What would you do differently next time?

4.         Acknowledge success when it comes, there is much to learn.

5.         Acknowledge failure when it comes, there is much to learn, often more than from success.

6.         Be willing to challenge yourself, and to change.

7.         Show up fully and work collaboratively with me to reach your goals.
